DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has extended heartfelt greetings to the members of the army, navy and air force on the occasion of Armed Forces Day.

In a statement issued today, the party’s Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Porwar said, “November 21 is Armed Forces Day- a glorious day in the nation’s history. We convey our sincere greetings and congratulations to the members of the armed forces and remember with deep respect the valiant martyrs of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in our great War of Liberation.”

He said that on this day in 1971, members of the Army, Navy and Air Force launched a coordinated counter attack against the Pakistani occupation forces. Members of the Mukti Bahini, different paramilitary forces and patriotic civilians also joined the combined assault.

“By defeating the occupation forces, we achieved the final victory on December 16, 1971. As part of this legacy, November 21 is observed every year as Armed Forces Day to commemorate our progress and triumph in the Liberation War,” he added.

Golam Porwar said the sacrifices and responsible role of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s independence, sovereignty, security and peace have earned an enduring place of honour in the nation’s history. He expressed hope that such role would continue in the future as well.

He also noted that by participating in UN peacekeeping missions, Bangladesh Armed Forces have been brightening the country’s image on the international stage.

“Our armed forces’ role in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity is beyond question,” he said, adding that the armed forces have become a symbol of national trust by extending strong support to the civil administration during cyclones, floods, tidal surges and other disasters, as well as contributing to the maintenance of law and order.

“I believe that a strong-armed force built on justice, truth and humanitarian values can ensure a safe and stable future for the nation,” Mia Golam Porwar further said.
