DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - In the nationwide ongoing crackdown, police have recovered three illegal firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition while arresting 1,712 suspects within the past 24 hours.
According to authorities, the operation targeted high-crime zones, focusing on violent offenders, drug-related activities, and individuals with outstanding warrants.
Police officials praised the coordinated effort, noting that the mass arrests reflect intensified patrols, intelligence-driven raids, and community tip-offs.
While the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 25 more leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from the capital city in the last 24 hours.
The detentions came after intelligence linked the individuals to plans for sabotage, organizing sudden "flash" processions, and carrying out crude bomb explosions in the capital.
According to DB officials, the arrests were made in coordinated raids across several areas of Dhaka over the past 24 hours.
Deputy Commissioner of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests.
DB reiterated its commitment to stamping out any resurgence of banned political activity in Dhaka, emphasizing that maintaining law and order remains its top priority.
