27 journos receive ‘Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award’

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 27 journalists from different print, online, and electronic media have clinched the “Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025.”

The winners were conferred today with crests and prize money at a function held at the auditorium of the International Mother Language Institute in the capital’s Shegunbagicha.

Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed attended the occasion as the chief guest, while Chairman of Nagad’s Board of Directors Kaiser Ahmed Chowdhury attended the event as the special guest.

Besides, Nagad Administrator Md Motasem Billah was present there as the guest of honour.

Among others, members of Nagad’s Board of Directors, eminent journalists, policymakers, and distinguished personalities from various fields were also present.

Welcoming the winners, Salehuddin Ahmed underscored the importance of journalistic responsibility and encouraged journalists to conduct investigative reporting to uncover deep truths and engage in constructive criticism by pointing out flaws.

“Media is the reflection of the people's voice and feelings. Therefore, the responsibility of journalism is extremely large and important. Heartfelt congratulations to those who received awards today. However, those who submitted reports have also done extremely valuable work. Many quality reports deserve praise even if they did not receive an award,” he added.

From the nominations submitted across 24 categories, 27 best reports of the year were selected for the awards. In two of those categories, there were joint winners. It is mentionable that reports published or broadcast between 01 September 2024 and 30 October 2025 were considered for nomination.

The winners are: Mohammad Helemul Alam (The Daily Star), Muhammad Salah Uddin Jashim (Jagonews24.com), Sajjadur Rahman (The Business Standard), Rafikul Islam (The Daily Sun), M A Noman (Daily Amar Desh), Ziadul Islam (Daily Amader Shomoy), Md Shakhwat Prince (The Business Standard), Md Shariful Islam (The Daily Star), Dipan Nandy (The Daily Star), Harun-ur Rashid (Daily Kalbela), Md Abu Saleh Rony (Daily Samakal), Md Rahenur Islam (Sokalsandhya.com), Md Shawkat Ali (Daily Desh Rupantor), Md Jasim Uddin (Dhakapost.com), Ehsanul Haque Jasim (The Daily Sun), Shamsul Haque Mohammad Miraj (Daily Kaler Kantho), Shah Md Rashedur Rahman (DBC News), Abu Jahed Md Salim (Maasranga TV), Alamgir Hossain (Jamuna TV), Rajib Ghosh (DBC News), Md Emdadul Haque (Channel24), Md Yousuf Ali (DBC News), Sushanta K Sinha (Ekattor TV), Shahnaz Sharmin (Ekattor TV), Mahde Azad Masum (Boishakhi TV), Mousumi Islam (The Daily Sun), and Hasan Arif (The Daily Rupali Bangladesh).

The award ceremony was chaired by President of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Abu Saleh Akon, while the welcome address was delivered by DRU General Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel.

The 10-member jury board for the award was headed by Shamsul Huq Zahid, editor of the English daily The Financial Express.
