DINAJPUR, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - A project of Taka 12.3 crore for road and drain development was inaugurated today by Dinajpur Municipality as part of the ongoing Road Upgradation and Transport Development Project (RUTDP), funded by the World Bank.
The project, aimed at improving the town's infrastructure, will involve the construction of one kilometer of road and drainage systems stretching from the Modern Intersection to the Chauliapatti Intersection, and from Chauliapatti to Lalbagh, ultimately reaching Sadhurghat.
Dinajpur Municipality Executive Engineer Md. Minarul Islam Khan officially inaugurated the development work at noon.
Assistant Engineer Mir Tofazzal Hossain, Deputy Assistant Engineer Md. Moyez Uddin, Senior Municipal Engineer Md. Mortuza Reza, Municipal Engineer Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, Deputy Assistant Engineer Shafiqul Islam, and former municipal councilor Kazi Ashrafuzzaman Babu were present at the event.
Speaking at the event, Engineer Minarul Islam Khan emphasized that the completion of this project will significantly improve the quality of life for local residents, making both pedestrian and vehicle movement more convenient.
He also stated that it would resolve the long-standing issues faced by locals due to poor road conditions.
The total estimated cost for the project is Taka 12 crore 3 lakh 906. According to the agreement, the contractor has been given a deadline to complete this construction work by December 2026.
The development is expected to modernize the city's infrastructure and ease transportation, boosting economic activities and providing a more comfortable living environment for the people of Dinajpur.
