DHAKA, April 4, 2026 (BSS) - Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmood Tuku today said the government's decisions will be implemented with support from business leaders to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer and irrigation season.
"To ensure uninterrupted power supply during the summer and irrigation season, all must come forward to conserve electricity and energy," he told views exchange meeting with representatives of business organisations from across the country at Bijoy Hall of the Biddut Bhaban today.
State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, among others, were present at the meeting.
Energy minister urged them to use energy-efficient equipment and conserve electricity in the current global context to maintain uninterrupted power supply during the peak demand period.
The minister said the decisions have been taken initially for three months, adding that the timeframe could be adjusted through discussions with business leaders ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Business leaders assured their compliance with the government's decisions while also placing several recommendations and demands.
The minister requested their temporary cooperation and said their proposals would be discussed.
He added that, in line with cabinet decisions, government institutions have already taken various initiatives and necessary measures are being implemented.
