BOGURA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) – Plentiful supply of early harvested winter vegetables has kept prices of most farm products stable at the Mahastan Hat, a biggest wholesale hub in the North Bengal here.

While visiting the market, the wholesale traders from country’s different places including Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and other adjacent areas were seen crowding at the wholesale market for buying vegetables at comparatively cheaper prices.

Vegetables usually are brought to the market from adjacent villages by trolleys, vans, autos and ‘bhotbotis’ and farmers were very happy as prices of the vegetables were satisfactory at the outset of the winter season.

The local buyers opined that they came to this market for purchasing fresh vegetables at reasonable prices.

According to the market sources, the prices of winter vegetables are stable to some extent at the whole sale market as per kg cauliflower was sold at Taka 25-30, bean at Taka 70-75, carrot at Taka 130, Tomato at Taka 100, cabbage at Taka 28-35 per piece, radish at Taka 10-15 per kg and yard long bean at Taka 30 per kg.

Per piece cabbage was being sold at Taka 25-35 as the price is little bit higher due to lower supply, said a cabbage wholesaler Asadul.

Wholesaler Fazlu said that the prices of vegetables are still good at the beginning of the winter.

Although the radish is now being cultivated whole the year, the large quantity is produced during the winter, said radish grower Razzak, adding that the price of the item is a little bit lower, but growers are making profit.

Everyday new variety of vegetables is arriving in the market and the prices are expected to remain stable because there is adequate supply, said vegetable supplier Bachhu Mia.
