BNP founder Ziaur Rahman introduced multi party democracy: Moyeen Khan

NARSINGDI, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today said BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman introduced multi-party democracy in the country. 

“BAKSAL system was established in the country from 1972 to 1975 and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman abolished BAKSAL through the National Revolution and Solidarity. After that, he introduced multi-party democracy in Bangladesh,” he said while addressing a rally at Ghorachatar under Palash Upazila in the district.

The rally was organized on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

Moyeen Khan said the people of Bangladesh have long been fighting for democracy, and they never hesitate to sacrifice their lives for this struggle. “After independence, Awami League had introduced BAKSAL and authoritarian rule in the country. However, they had to flee repeatedly in the face of mass movements by freedom-loving people,” he added. 

After the rally, a procession was brought out in the upazila. Hundreds of leaders and activists from the upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations took part in the event. 

Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar, General Secretary Saiful Haque, Joint Secretary Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Paurasava BNP President Alam Molla, General Secretary Delwar Hossain, Palash Thana Chatra Dal President Nazmul Hossain Sohel, Member Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Papon, among others, were present at the programme.
