RANGPUR, November 5, 2025 (BSS)- As not more than two months remain to arrive coldest months Poush and Magh, the northern part are experiencing mild cold and intense fog specifically in the night time.

The air becoming colder as temperature and humidity of the air has already started to descend.

Met office said this year the country is expected to experience heavier cold weather. Yet more than a month left, according to Bangla Calendar, to enter the winter officially, the winter started signaling its advents with fog and cold in eight districts of the region.

Met office recorded 21.4-degree Celsius temperature this morning with 93 percent humidity in the air reflecting nothing but the early arrival of the winter season.

Assistant meteorologist of Rangpur Mostafizur Rahman told BSS that it feels like a bit colder due to rains in the recent days.

The fog and the mild cold are indicators of winter’s arrival. The temperature may fall a bit more in next few days, he said.

Covered with intense fog with the scent of Shiuli and lilies lying on the farmers’ yard and the smile of the blooming water lilies early in the morning creates an unimaginably unique scenic splendor of the country since a few days.

Haridash Ray, a battery-run auto rickshaw driver in the Gangachar Upazila, set off with his vehicle this morning. Upon a conversation with this reporter, Haridash said when he set off with the auto-rickshaw in the early morning, the locality was deeply covered with fog and objects and roads of a few yards of distance could not be seen due to fog.

“I operated vehicle slowly with precaution switching on the headlight in the morning,” he said.

Another passerby named Rubel Islam also echoed the same about intense fog adding, “Even after 8 am in the morning the sun was out of sight due to intense fog.”

According to the Bangla Calendar, Hemant season is going on. The paddy field turning golden and farmers are eying for good harvest. With the signaling of winter fog, the Hamant season reached a new glamour. Neither Hemant nor Winter but something heavenly beauty in-between.

However, the gestures of winter not only signal the beauty but also signs extreme and harsh situation for those who do not effort to buy proper winter cloths and living on the Chars.

Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Foysal stressed for standing by those cold-hit people specifically those living on the 745 chars of the Teesta, Dharla and Brahmaputra Rivers. Administration is getting prepared to deal with any adverse situation, he said.
