DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar today said October 28 killings case must be revived and if required, the tribunal should be given responsibility to reinvestigate the killings.
He said this while addressing as chief guest a protest rally held at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram, demanding justice for the brutal killings committed by the Awami League on October 28, 2006.
Jamaat’s Dhaka South City Ameer Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul chaired the programme. Jamaat’s Central Assistant Secretaries General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan and Maulana Abdul Halim and Dhaka South Secretary Dr. M Shafiqul Islam Masud, spoke among others.
Mia Golam Parwar said, “The killings of October 28 were one of the most horrific incidents in world history. The entire world condemned it.”
He questioned, “If political leaders can be killed after 40 years of independence in false cases, why the perpetrators of the gruesome killings of October 28, occurred in 20 years ago, won’t be brought to justice?”
Golam Parwar also alleged that “Hasina is preparing from Delhi to create chaos in Bangladesh in November. He demanded that the 14-party alliance led by her should be banned before that time.
He called upon the interim government, saying, “It will not be possible to hold a free and fair election without banning the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League. They will try to disrupt the election through terrorism and anarchy.”
Special guest Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said, “October 28 is remembered as the Paltan Tragedy. That day, even before Jamaat’s rally began, identified terrorists from the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League beat people to death with logi-boita (boat hook and oar) , like snakes being beaten, and then danced on their corpses—a scene that pained millions around the world.”
He said following the incident, cases were filed against Sheikh Hasina, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, and other leaders of the 14-party alliance.
“Charge sheets were even submitted, but under the influence of invisible powers, those charge sheets were withdrawn under the pretext of further investigation. Later, when the Awami League came to power, the cases were illegally dismissed.”
He urged the interim government to revive those cases, arrest the accused, and ensure the maximum punishment for those against whom charge sheets had been filed.
In his concluding remarks, Nurul Islam Bulbul demanded the revival of all genocide-related cases conducted under Hasina’s direction.
He said that, like the families of the victims of the Shapla Square massacre, the families of the martyrs of October 28 should also receive financial assistance and state recognition.
After the rally, a large protest procession started from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram and marched through Bijoynagar, Kakrail, and towards Shantinagar, demanding strong justice for the brutal killings of October 28.
