DHAKA, Aug 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), in collaboration with Mission Green Bangladesh (MGB), today launched a nationwide campaign titled "Go Green, Go Beyond" aimed at promoting responsible and environment-friendly tourism.

The campaign was inaugurated at the historic Sixty Dome Mosque in Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in association with the Tour Operator Association of Sundarban (TOAS), said a press release here.

The initiative reflects a collective commitment to safeguarding Bangladesh's natural and cultural heritage.

TOAB Board of Directors, TOAS Joint Secretary Mazharul Islam Koche, and TOAB members were present at the launching ceremony.

As part of the campaign, tree plantation drives will be carried out at popular tourist destinations across all divisions, encouraging both travelers and local communities to embrace sustainable tourism practices.

Organisers said the initiative will serve as a prelude to the Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2025, the country's largest tourism exhibition, scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 1 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) in Dhaka.

This year's BTTF is expected to draw more than 250 exhibitors, participation from over 20 countries, 2,000 trade professionals, and more than 50,000 visitors.

Speaking on the occasion, TOAB President Md. Rafeuzzaman said tourism and sustainability must go hand in hand. "Through the 'Go Green, Go Beyond' initiative, we are sending a strong message that the industry is committed to preserving nature while promoting travel," he added.

TOAB Director (Trade & Fair) Md. Taslim Amin Shovon described the campaign as a benchmark for balancing growth with sustainability. "BTTF 2025 will not only showcase destinations but also highlight how tourism can drive a greener, cleaner and more resilient Bangladesh," he added.

The "Go Green, Go Beyond" campaign will continue nationwide until the opening of BTTF 2025, where eco-friendly practices including reduced plastic use and sustainable travel solutions will be incorporated into the event itself.
