CHATTOGRAM, July 3, 2025 (BSS)- The government has extended the tenure of the administrator appointed to the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) by 60 days.

This information was disclosed through a letter signed by Chowdhury Samia Yasmin, deputy secretary of the Trade Organization-1 Branch of the Ministry of Commerce, on Wednesday (July 2).

Although the current term of the administrator ends on July 8, the government has ordered a new extension of his term for 60 days as per Section 17 of the Trade Organization Act, 2022, according to the letter.

On September 9, 2024 the Trade Organisation Wing of the Commerce Ministry appointed Chattogram's Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anowar Pasha as the administrator of the Chittagong Chamber.

The appointment was made after the resignation of the existing CCCI president and all 23 executive board directors in the face of protests from general businessmen.

In the initial appointment order, the ministry instructed the administrator to conduct a fair and neutral election for the port city chamber's board
within 120 days and then hand over control to the newly-elected committee.

Currently, Muhammad Anwar Pasha, who holds the rank of Joint Secretary, is also serving as the executive director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
