DHAKA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna today said that the nationwide Youth Festival programs have clearly reflected the strong political commitment of the younger generation.

He said the main objective of the Youth Festival was to harness the creativity, skills, and ideas of the youth to open new horizon in politics and the economy, linking them with the national development strategy.

With the vibrant participation of youths and the enthusiastic presence of hundreds of thousands of people, the programs witnessed a great success, he added.

Munna made the remarks at a joint press conference of Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal at Nayapaltan central office of the party.

The Jubo Dal president expressed deep gratitude to the people from all walks of life, especially students, teachers, workers, employees, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, professionals, and marginalized communities for their active participation and support to the programme.

“The unity, courage, and awareness shown by the people, irrespective of their political affiliation, class, and profession, have made this initiative successful and provided renewed inspiration in the struggle to restore voting rights and build a democratic and equitable state,” he said.

Munna also expressed their regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to city residents, particularly due to traffic congestion during the waves of youth enthusiasm.

He remarked, “The programmes across the country did not just a reflection of a national unity for democracy, but clearly signaled a resurgence of the new generation’s struggle- where the youth are once again organizing, speaking out, and taking leadership to protect their rights.”

He continued “They understand that voting rights are not just about casting a ballot. It’s a force to shape the future. One day this awakening will lay the foundation for a just, democratic, and liberal state system.”

Munna further noted that the deprivation of voting rights of young people remains a national crisis, saying “It is not only a violation of a constitutional rights, but also a cruel example of depriving a generation of their fundamental civil liberties to participate in state governance.”

He said for the past 15 years and 7 months, the Chhatra Shibir was aligned with the fascist rule of the Awami League and remained in underground.

“The nation has rejected their hypocritical politics. Their parent organization does not want elections, but elections are inevitable and we’ll continue our fight to restore people’s right to vote,” he said.
