DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today said the government wants to unite diverse elements and present the identity of the country, nation and people before the world giving culture the highest dignity.
"We want to give culture the highest dignity, unite diverse elements and present the identity of our country, nation and people before the world," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding programme of 'Benuka', organised at the National Music and Dance Centre auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as part of the celebration of Nazrul Year.
Shilpakala Academy Director General Rezauddin Stalin said Nazrul was unique as both a songwriter and composer, and his music has had a far-reaching impact on the country's cultural life.
He said Nazrul's influence is still felt in Bangladesh's movements and culture, describing him as a companion in the nation's struggles and difficult times.
Academy Secretary Mohammad Zakir Hossain delivered the vote of thanks.
A cultural programme was staged in the second session of the event. The programme was organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
