DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister's Adviser and spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office Mahdi Amin today said the July Mass Uprising was not the movement of any particular group of party but it thrived through the spontaneous participation of country's common people.

"July Mass Uprising was not the movement of any particular group but it succeeded through the impulsive participation of people from all walks of 
life, democratic political parties, transcending right-wing, left-wing, centrist and Islamist affiliations," he said.

He made the remarks while addressing the "First Conference on the July Revolution," organized by the July Revolutionary Alliance (JRA) held at the 
BIAM Foundation Auditorium here this afternoon.

He said the government will implement the July Charter exactly as it was signed and ensure justice for the July killing.

He noted that present government's foremost goal is to fulfill the aspirations of the July martyrs' envisioned Bangladesh founded on equality, 
human dignity and social justice. 

He urged all to work together to build a sovereign Bangladesh where no form of discrimination would exist.

"Many of those injured during the mass uprising have yet to return to normal life. Some have lost their eyesight, while others have become permanently 
disabled. 

The elected government wants to stand beside these injured people and their families," he said.

He assured that government would continue providing all necessary long-term support for them. 

Expressing govt's determination to building a discrimination free Bangladesh, Mahdi said the government remains committed to honoring the sacrifices of the 
martyrs and establishing a justice-based state.

Highlighting the background of the long struggle, he said, "I am here as a representative of the government, and more than 400 leaders and activists of 
the BNP lost their lives during the July Mass Uprising and the movements and struggles that preceded it."

Thousands of people were subjected to enforced disappearance, torture and persecution, he added.
