DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - The government has taken effective initiatives to resolve complications related to the payment of salaries and allowances of madrasah teachers and employees across the country and the problem is expected to be resolved permanently soon through the introduction of the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Ministry of Education today.

According to the release, the issue was raised during the day's Jatiya Sangsad session by MP Md. Nurul Amin of Rangpur-6, who expressed concern over delays in salary payments, noting that many teachers were facing financial hardship.

In response, the ministry explained that the "Madrasah Education Management and Information System (MEMIS)" project, initially approved in 2017 at a cost of about Tk 10.12 crore, had excluded the automated EFT system during the previous government's tenure.

As a result, regular and timely salary disbursement faced significant obstacles.

To address the problem, the current government revised the project and incorporated the EFT system into the "MEMIS Support (2nd Revised) (Proposed 3rd Revision)" project, which was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on June 9. 

The revised project cost now stands at approximately Tk 38.07 crore.

The ministry said only eight madrasahs, one in each division, had been receiving salaries through EFT under a pilot programme, while all other institutions relied on manual processes, causing recurring delays.

It expressed hope that the inclusion of EFT in the revised project would ensure timely salary payments and permanently resolve the issue.
