DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved a total of six separate proposals, including the
procurement of five cargoes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to meet the country's growing energy demands.
The approvals came from the 24th CCGP meeting of the year 2026, held today with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair at the
Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Cabinet Division officials said that a total of seven proposals from five ministries and divisions were placed on the day's agenda. Of these, five
regular proposals and one miscellaneous item were recommended for approval, while one proposal from the Ministry of Industries was withdrawn by the
processing ministry.
According to the approved proposals, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division secured clearance for two separate LNG procurement drives.
Under a Government-to-Government (G2G) framework, the state-owned entity will directly procure two cargoes of LNG from SOCAR Trading SA, Switzerland, for the short-term duration of 2026. The base contract price for this purchase is set at (JKM+0.125) USD/MMBTU.
Furthermore, under miscellaneous agenda item-1, the committee okayed the procurement of an additional three cargoes of LNG through an international
Request for Quotation (RFQ) process following Rule-105(3)(a) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025.
These three cargoes-scheduled for delivery between late June and early July 2026-will be supplied by BP Singapore Pte Ltd (one cargo) and TotalEnergies
Gas & Power Ltd, UK (two cargoes) at a total cost of Taka 2,372.21 crore (including AIT).
The meeting also approved a major food security infrastructure proposal (partially) from the Ministry of Food. The Directorate General of Food will
procure 1.00 crore pieces of new cut-size B-Twill jute bags (50-kg capacity) across 50 packages through the e-GP system.
For industrial and economic zone development, the committee approved a tender under the Prime Minister's Office for the "National Special Economic Zone
Development (First Revised)" project being implemented by the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).
The work package (WD-9C-BSMSN-BEZA) involves the construction of canal development, lining, ghats, and a walkway in Mirsarai, Chattogram. Monico
Limited won the contract with a bid of Taka 108.92 crore.
Additionally, two separate primary school-cum-flood shelter construction projects were approved under the Local Government Division, funded jointly by
the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh.
Implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the "Resilient Infrastructure for Adaptation and Vulnerability Reduction (RIVER) (First Revised)" project, these include:
Nilphamari District: Construction of 26 government primary school-cum-flood shelters by joint venture BDE Limited-Western Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. at a
cost of Taka 186.49 crore.
Habiganj District: Construction of 27 government primary school-cum-flood shelters by joint venture Western Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. and M/S Mominul
Hoque at a cost of Taka 236.91 crore.
