DHAKA, June 2, 2026 (BSS) – Home Affairs Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government is taking strong measures regarding law and order and border security.

“The government is working to ensure the rule of law in the country, bring offenders swiftly under trial, ensure a safe traffic system in Dhaka city and implement gradual structural changes,” he said.

He made the remarks while speaking at a briefing held after a coordination meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs today.

Responding to a media query, the home minister said the government has a firm policy against any form of infiltration or “push-in” or “push-back” practices in borders.

He also said border security remains under the highest level of vigilance.

Addressing the Ramisa murder case, he said, “The murder case of Ramisa is currently under trial proceedings. And according to updated information, out of 12 witnesses, testimony of 11 has already been completed.”

He added that the death incident at Ad-din Hospital has been described by the media as “negligence-related,” and a high-level investigation is underway.

He said legal procedures are being followed against those responsible based on evidence.

During a briefing on maintaining security across the country during Eid-ul-Azha and ensuring traffic management in Dhaka, he said, advanced AI-based CCTV technology is being used for the first time to control traffic in the Dhaka metropolitan area.

“This experimental application of technology is being carried out with police, traffic departments and BUET experts. As a result, automated systems are being introduced against traffic law violators,” he noted.

He said drivers continue to obey traffic signals even at night, reflecting improved governance. With coordination between police, traffic division and technical experts, this traffic automation system is being further developed.

“After successful implementation in Dhaka city, the AI traffic system will be expanded to other major cities and metropolitan areas,” he added.

At the senior level annual BGB and BSF meeting, the minister said border issues, drug trafficking control and mutual security concerns are regularly discussed.
