DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today met a delegation of the International Labour Organization (ILO), led by its Bangladesh Country Director Max Tunon, at the Secretariat here.
During the meeting, the minister said the ILO's proposed initiatives for Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban would contribute significantly to improving the living standards of people in the hill districts.
He reiterated the government's commitment to sustainable development, poverty reduction, climate resilience and employment generation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in line with its electoral pledges.
The minister also said the activities of the ILO could be implemented more effectively in coordination with the Hill District Councils once they are reconstituted.
Thanking the ILO delegation for its continued support, he urged the organization to further strengthen cooperation in skill development, agriculture and livelihood protection in the region.
CHT Affairs Secretary Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Additional Secretary Md Monirul Islam, ILO Senior Programme Officer ANM Tanzel Ahsan and Alexius Chikam, among others, were present at the meeting.
