Two-day 'Scholarship Festival' held at KU

KHULNA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day "Scholarship Festival: Season-1" was 
held at Khulna University (KU) to provide students with information on higher 
education opportunities and scholarships abroad.

Organised by the Khulna University Research Society (KURS), the festival 
concluded today with a formal session at the Journalist Liaquat Ali 
Auditorium on the university campus.

KU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim addressed the session as 
the chief guest.

He said the world is highly competitive and students need to acquire 
knowledge, skills and qualifications while preparing themselves for the 
international arena to remain competitive.

"There is no alternative to hard work in this regard," he said.

Recalling his recent visits to Australia and the Netherlands, the VC said 
universities in developed countries provide favourable environments and 
facilities for education and research, which play an important role in 
developing students' knowledge and innovative capabilities.

"We should utilise such opportunities and engage ourselves with world-class 
education and research," he added.

Vice-Chancellor of Narayanganj Science and Technology University Prof Dr Md 
Najmus Sadat, KU Pro-VC Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan, Director of Student 
Affairs Prof Dr Md Salahuddin, KURS Adviser Prof Dr Md Matiul Islam and KURS 
founder Md Yasin Ahmed addressed the session as special guests.

On the occasion, KURS President Chayan Boxi delivered the welcome speech.

Later, Prof Dr Najmus Sadat discussed application guidelines and preparation 
strategies for the DAAD Scholarship while KU Soil, Water and Environment 
Discipline Associate Prof Dr Md Tarek Bin Salam spoke on application 
procedures and preparation strategies for the MEXT Scholarship, in Japan.

During the two-day festival, discussions were held on scholarship 
opportunities in the UK, Germany, Australia, Japan and other European 
countries, including application procedures, preparation and necessary 
strategies.

Students from different disciplines of Khulna University participated in the 
two-day festival.
