JASHORE, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today paid homage to Bir Shreshtha Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh on the occasion of his 55th martyrdom anniversary.
The Jashore Battalion (BGB-49) paid rich tribute at his grave near Kashipur Border Outpost (BOP) in Sharsha upazila of the district at 10.00 am.
As part of the programme, a guard of honour was accorded to the martyred freedom fighter and wreaths were laid at his grave. A Fateha and a special munajat were also offered seeking eternal peace for his departed soul.
Tabarruk (food items) was distributed among those present at the end of the programme.
Deputy Commander of Jashore Battalion (BGB-49) Major Nur Uddin Ahmad and Assistant Director Md Machedul Islam Khan were present at the event.
Members of Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Sheikh's family, local representatives, journalists and prominent local people also attended the programme.
Commander of Jashore Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan said the day was observed with due respect, as in previous years, to commemorate the heroic contribution of Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Sheikh, who made the supreme sacrifice during the Great Liberation War in 1971.
