CHATTOGRAM, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - Finance and Planning Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that BNP has consistently stepped up to support Bangladesh during times of national crisis and difficulty.
"The previous fascist government and the following interim government have plunged the country into a severe crisis. Although it may take some time, the BNP will successfully lead the country out of this predicament," he said.
Amir Khasru came up with the comments while speaking as the chief guest at a pre-rally gathering of the Chattogram Metropolitan BNP, held at the old railway station premises today, in celebration of the BNP’s 48th founding anniversary.
He mentioned that efforts are currently underway to fulfill the aspirations of the nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
“The people will not forgive those who hinder future progress. An elected government and parliament have been established in this country through numerous sacrifices. The primary duty of this government is to meet the expectations and hopes of the populace. Everyone must exercise patience and support the government,” he added.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman instilled in us the values of political discipline, patriotism, independence, and sovereignty. He also paved the way for national development through inclusive politics focused on growth and production”.
The nation continues to advance on the foundation laid by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in building Bangladesh, he said, adding, “The lessons imparted by Begum Khaleda Zia through her life serve as a model for us. Many leaders and activists have sacrificed their lives for the country alongside her, with numerous individuals imprisoned or rendered disabled”.
Following the rally, a vibrant procession that started from the premises of the old railway station and concluded at the Laldighi intersection parading city’s several significant roads.
Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, the Organizing Secretary of the Central BNP and Administrator of the Chattogram Jilla Parisad, along with Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, the State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, addressed the gathering as special guests.
Ershad Ullah MP, the Convener of Chattogram city BNP chaired the event while Nazimur Rahman moderated it. Sayeed Al Noman, MP and Former General Secretary of city BNP, Abul Hashem Bakar, BNP Central Member Shamsul Alam, Joint Convener of city BNP, M. A. Aziz, Ed. Abdus Sattar, Syed Azam Uddin, Shawkat Alam Khaja, Yasin Chowdhury Liton, Ahmedul Alam Chowdhury Russell, Manjurul Alam Manju, among others, attended the function.
Thousands of leaders and activists from the metropolitan, police station, and ward BNP, along with its affiliated organizations, participated enthusiastically, carrying banners, festoons, and musical instruments.
