RUET 'University Day 2026' celebrated with day-long programmes

RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - With colorful arrangements and day-long programmes, 'University Day 2026' was celebrated at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). 

Today, the day was observed through the successful implementation of programmes with the participation of teachers, students, officers, employees and guests of the university. 

The formalities of the day began at 9:30 am today with the hoisting of the national flag and the university flag in front of the administrative building. 

At that time, the day was welcomed by releasing three doves by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Mamun Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S M Abdur Razzak and Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Akhtar Hossain along with other dignitaries. 

After that, a prayer in memory of the martyred students and a tree plantation program were held on the RUET premises. Through this, RUET highlighted the message of remembering the martyrs who contributed to the needs of the country and society and environmental conservation. 

Later, the guests observed the research poster and startup module exhibition at the university cafeteria.

In it, students presented their various research and innovative initiatives.

The invited guests emphasized the importance of research and innovation practices among students. In addition, free blood and eye check-up services were provided in a campaign organized by the blood donor organization 'Nirob'. 

A colorful joyous rally was brought out in front of the administrative building at 10:30 am. With the participation of teachers, officers, employees and students, the rally paraded through various roads of the campus. 

A discussion meeting, painting exhibition and prize distribution ceremony were held in the conference room on the occasion of 'University Day 2026'.

The closing ceremony was attended by the chief guest, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deans of various faculties and other teachers and students. 

Teachers, officers, employees and students of the university took part in the discussion meeting.

At this time, the guests highlighted RUET's education, research, innovation and technological advancement.

At the same time, emphasis was placed on the university's current achievements, future prospects and further expanding RUET's role in the country's engineering and technology sector. 

In his speech as the chief guest, UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed said, "We are optimistic about the research and various initiatives of the students.”

The goal of research should not be just publication or citation; it must be to solve real problems and for the welfare of people.

“We must give importance to our ethics and social bonding and use talent and technology for the welfare of people. The real goal of university education is not just a certificate, but to build people with ethics, human values and a sense of responsibility towards society." 

RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdur Razzak expected UGC will always be by the side of RUET and other universities of the country in research and innovation.

This RUET family is moving forward with the combined efforts of teachers, students, officers-employees, former students - everyone. In the coming days too, they will work to take this institution to a stronger position in the international arena.

At this time, he expressed hope that the continuous efforts of teachers and students will continue in the future in RUET's glorious journey. 

In the concluding part of the program, prizes and honors were distributed among the winners who participated in various events including painting.

The administration expressed its determination to make the day memorable through distribution of food among orphans tomorrow.
