DHAKA, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today said the youths fought like heroes in the anti-autocracy movement including the July Mass Uprising in 2024.l

"The youth force fought like heroes in the anti-autocracy movement. The youth have made immense sacrifices in Bangladesh's movements and struggles. The country will move forward through their contributions," he said.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a doa mahfil and discussion held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the Secretariat, seeking eternal peace for the soul of Nasib Hasan Riyan, son of Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Golam Razzaq, who was martyred during the July Uprising.

Recalling the contribution of martyr Nasib Hasan Riyan, he said, "The untimely martyrdom of the boy is in no way acceptable. His parents have lost their child. I have no words to express this grief. At the same time, there can be no words to console parents who are carrying the body of their child on their shoulders."

Sakhawat said, "We can only express our grief and stand by them with sympathy. Only the affected family can truly understand this deep pain and suffering; no one else can fully feel it."

The minister prayed for July Martyr martyr Nasib Hasan Riyan and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family. He also consoled Riyan's father, Md Golam Razzaq, who was present at the meeting.

Bangladesh Secretariat Service Association President Md Abdul Khalek, Deputy Secretary of the Health Services Division, presided over meeting.
