Khalilur, Cooke discuss UNGA, Rohingya, migration cooperation issues

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) — British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke today met Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and discussed his priorities for the UN General Assembly (UNGA) Presidency alongside Rohingya and migration issues.

During the meeting, Cooke sought to understand Khalilur's priorities for his UNGA Presidency, according to a message issued by the British High Commission in Dhaka.

The two sides also discussed the United Kingdom's support for the Rohingya ahead of the ninth anniversary of the Rohingya crisis.

Bangladesh-UK cooperation on migration also featured prominently in the discussion, the message said.

The meeting reflected continued engagement between Dhaka and London on multilateral issues as well as humanitarian and migration cooperation.
