DHAKA, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - A three-day workshop for journalists on “Multimedia, Fact-checking and use of AI,” organised by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), began at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) today.

The inaugural session of the workshop was held at the seminar room of the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, said a press release here.

The training programme has been organized for 40 journalists from SUST and Sylhet Agricultural University.

SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khairul Islam attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while PIB Director General Faruk Wasif presided over the event.

PIB Associate Editor of the Publication and Feature Department and course coordinator Sahanowar Saeed Shaheen delivered the welcome address.

On the first day of the workshop, BOOM Bangladesh representative, fact-checker and AI expert Tawshif Akbar attended as a resource person.
