RAJSHAHI, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - Emphasizing the alternative fuel system, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Akhtar Hossain said due to demand, more energy will be needed all over the world in the coming days.
However, research shows that meeting the energy demand is having an adverse impact on the environment.
“So in the coming days, we have to do innovative research by coordinating energy and environment.”
For this, emphasis must be given on alternative fuels. At the same time, its availability and use must be ensured. To protect the environment, we must increase green energy production.
He said these in his speech as the chief guest at the program titled 'International Symposium on Energy and Environment' organized at RUET today.
The program was presided over by Professor Mosharraf Hossain, Director of the Institute of Energy and Environmental Studies.
Professor Md. Rokonuzzaman and Professor Dr. Mohammad UH Joardar of the Department of Mechanical Engineering spoke as special guests.
The day-long symposium was organized by the Institute of Energy and Environmental Studies and RUET administration at the CSE Seminar Room of RUET.
At the event, in three separate keynote sessions, presentations were delivered as speakers by Associate Professor Naef Qasem of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, Professor Mahbub Alam of Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, China, and Reader in Fluids and Acoustics Eldad Avital of Queen Mary University of London, UK.
At that time, through presentations, it was highlighted how much carbon is being emitted around the world through the use of regular energy and what our alternative fuel sources will be in the future.
Along with how the world will benefit if the use of alternative fuels can be ensured.
Eight technical sessions were held in the day-long symposium where researchers presented more than a hundred of their research papers through presentations.
