RAJSHAHI, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) has decided to install air conditioning (AC) systems in the reading rooms of all its residential halls to improve students' study environment.

The university administration has secured the necessary budget approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the project.

RU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Faridul Islam confirmed the decision on Monday, saying the initiative aims to ease the long-standing difficulties faced by students, particularly during hot weather.

Installation work has already begun and will be carried out in phases across the university's residential halls.
