BAGERHAT, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal today underscored the importance of technology-based training in developing skilled human resources, saying there is no alternative to technical education and practical skill development to prepare the country's youth for employment.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the privately established Skill Institute of Technology (Skill IT) in Bagerhat, expressing hope that the institution would play a significant role in equipping young people with modern technological, language and job-oriented skills and contribute to strengthening the national economy.
The Deputy Speaker formally inaugurated the institute by unveiling its foundation plaque at a programme held at the Latif Master Foundation premises.
Speaking as the chief guest, Kayser Kamal said private initiatives like Skill IT would strengthen the country's efforts to build a skilled workforce by providing technology-based training, language education and practical, employment-oriented skills.
He said the ultimate goal of politics is to improve people's quality of life, adding that education and technical training are indispensable for producing competent, hardworking and skilled human resources.
Creating employment opportunities for educated unemployed youths through skill-based training would strengthen the national economy and bring positive social change, he added.
The Deputy Speaker also stressed the importance of keeping young people away from drugs and social degradation by engaging them in productive activities. He said modern technology education, innovation and skill development would enable them to secure employment both at home and abroad.
Paying tribute to the late Abdul Latif Master, he described him as a devoted teacher who made significant contributions to expanding education in the region.
He expressed optimism that the institute would contribute to the country's economic, social and national development by offering scholarships, skill development programmes and international-standard training.
Speaking at the programme, Latif Master Foundation Chairman CPA Md. Rafiqul Islam (Jaglu) said Skill IT would initially offer training in nine trades, including information technology, graphic design, Korean and Japanese language courses, sewing, driving and other job-oriented skills.
He said each trade would accommodate 90 trainees in three- and six-month courses. Participants would receive training allowances, certificates from government-approved institutions and hands-on practical experience, enhancing their employment prospects both in Bangladesh and abroad.
Following the inauguration, the Deputy Speaker distributed 2,000 fruit tree saplings among local residents and later attended a meeting with members of the Bagerhat Bar Association and lawyers practising in the district.
The inauguration event was chaired by former secretary Dr. Md. Faridul Islam and attended by District Council Administrator Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Latif Master Foundation Chairman CPA Md. Rafiqul Islam (Jaglu), BNP Central Executive Committee Member Ayesha Siddika Mani, Bagerhat District BNP Convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim, Member Secretary Mozaffar Rahman Alam, former District and Sessions Judge Ikhtiar Uddin and Principal Jahangir Alam, among others.
