RANGAMATI, July 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Rangamati district administration has temporarily closed Sajek
Valley this evening.
The authorities came up with the decision due to continuous heavy rainfall, landslide risks,
accidents, and disruption of communication in the hilly areas.
The decision was announced as an emergency public notice signed by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma
Ashrafi.
According to the notice, all tourist spots, waterfalls, hilly trails, remote and risky areas in Sajek
Valley have been declared off-limits to tourists, tour operators and the general public until further
instructions.
The announcement stated that, based on the latest weather forecasts from the Bangladesh Meteorological
Department and the Storm Warning Centre in Agargaon and considering recent heavy rainfall in the
Rangamati hill district that caused landslides and communication disruption, the closure was necessary
to ensure public safety.
The district administration urged residents and visitors to exercise caution in movement and strictly
follow official instructions. It further advised avoiding unnecessary travel to risky areas until
weather conditions improve.
