DHAKA, June 14, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today said voluntary blood donors are not only fostering mutual understanding but are also practicing virtuous deeds.

"Those who donate blood voluntarily are not only developing mutual understanding but are also practicing good virtues. It is not possible for them to engage in wrongdoing," he said.

The JU VC was addressing a voluntary blood donor-recipient reunion and young donor award ceremony organised by Quantum at the IDEB Auditorium in capital's Kakrail area this evening as the chief guest.

He expressed hope that voluntary blood donors would turn this practice of good deeds into a lifelong habit.

The programme was organised marking World Blood Donor Day, where gratitude and honours were extended to more than 800 young voluntary blood donors.

At the event, 57-time voluntary blood donor of the 'O' positive blood group Daulat Al Rashid and regular blood recipient suffering from thalassemia Rakibul Islam Rusho shared their emotional experiences.

The programme was chaired by Madam Nahar Al Bokhari, chief coordinator of Quantum Foundation's voluntary blood donation activities.

Director of the voluntary blood donation programme M Rezaul Hasan delivered the welcome address.

Speakers at the event expressed gratitude to all voluntary blood donors on behalf of Quantum Lab.

They also called upon young voluntary blood donors to come forward in this humanitarian service to help fully meet the country's blood demand.

Earlier in the afternoon, the venue turned festive with the spontaneous participation of voluntary blood donors and recipients.

Donors and recipients got acquainted with one another, while small games and a joyful atmosphere created a unique environment.

Thalassemia patients receiving blood became emotional upon meeting such a large number of voluntary blood donors. The donors also shared their immense and profound joy at being able to provide this noble service to blood recipients.

The organisers expressed hope that the encouragement extended to voluntary blood donors, particularly young donors, on World Blood Donor Day would inspire the emergence of many more new donors.
