RAJSHAHI, May 10, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu said no nation can become great without honoring its distinguished people, whose knowledge and contributions have benefited the country in many ways, for which the nation will remain forever grateful.

He made the remarks as the chief guest while speaking at a seminar and reception for senior engineers held on Saturday evening at the conference room of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology.

The event was organized by the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, Rajshahi Centre, and presided over by Engineer Sardar Anisur Rahman Rana, chairman of the IEB Rajshahi Centre.

Describing RUET as an institution of pride, Minu said the institution was like a mother to all who had been, were, and would be part of it, adding that future generations joining the institution they were leaving behind would feel deeply honored.

RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Abdur Razzak, Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milan, MP, and NESCO Rajshahi Executive Director Engineer Md. Mokhlesur Rahman attended the programme as special guests.

The minister honored the senior engineers by presenting them with crests. A total of 15 distinguished engineers, including six faculty members of RUET, received honors.

Engineer Mokhlesur Rahman presented the keynote paper titled “Smart Distribution System in Northern Electricity Supply PLC (NESCO).” He elaborated on the modern aspects of smart distribution technology, ways to increase the efficiency of the power supply system, and its future prospects.

Speakers at the event said that, besides honoring the contributions of senior engineers, such seminars would play an important role in helping young engineers gain a comprehensive understanding of modern technology and smart power distribution systems.
