DHAKA, May 3, 2026 (BSS)- Shaheed Zia Degree College in Gabtoli Upazila of Bogura district is going to be nationalized soon as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman granted consent for the process. 

Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a circular regarding the matter to the concerned directorate on April 29. 

According to the circular, the Prime Minister has graciously granted consent for the nationalization of 'Shaheed Zia Degree College.' 

The circular also outlined necessary steps for the process, including a ban on the transfer of appointments and immovable or movable assets, conducting an on-site inspection of the institution and submission of a report, and submitting a report on financial implications and pending legal cases, along with an opinion from the legal adviser of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, and an affidavit from the head of the institution. 

On April 20, during his visit to Bogura, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended a program at Bagbari College ground. Local people demanded the college be nationalized through banners and slogans. In response, the premier announced that the college would be nationalized.
