DHAKA, Sept 02, 2026 (BSS)- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called for quick solution of the existing problems in Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) export sector.
“The government is working to address the mismanagement and irregularities that have persisted in the country’s garment industry for a long time. Utmost efforts are continuing to resolve the existing problems quickly,” he said.
The President said this when a delegation of the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) paid a courtesy call on him this afternoon. President’s Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam briefied journalists after the meeting. BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan led the delegation.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the President of the existing problems in the country's RMG industry and sought his cooperation in resolving them. In response, the President assured them that necessary steps would be taken to address their problems.
During the meeting, the BGMEA invited the President to attend as the chief guest the closing ceremony of the 25th BATEXPO 2026, scheduled to be held on November 19. The President expressed interest in attending the event.
President's Military Secretary, Secretary, Press Secretary and senior officials were present during the meeting.
