PM stands by 6-year-old Mariyam suffering from hemangioma

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) – Prime  Minister Tarique Rahman has extended assistance for the treatment of six-year-old Jannatul Mariyam of Hathazari in Chattogram, who is suffering from hemangioma, a tumour involving blood vessels.

A delegation of Amra BNP Paribar today met Mariyam’s family, who had come to Dhaka for her treatment, and provided financial assistance on behalf of the Prime Minister, said a press release issued today by Amra BNP Paribar.

The Prime Minister came to know about Mariyam’s illness through a video circulated on social media. 

After learning about her condition, he directed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman to take necessary measures for her treatment.

Following the directive, the delegation, led by Amra BNP Paribar Member Secretary Krishibid Moksedul Momin Mithun, met Mariyam’s mother Nahid Akhter and enquired about the child’s condition.

The delegation conveyed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s message of sympathy to the family and provided financial assistance for Mariyam’s treatment.

Mariyam is suffering from hemangioma, which has caused various problems with her eating and sleeping.

Her mother Nahid Akhter is worried about her daughter’s treatment. The family is preparing to take Mariyam to China for advanced treatment.

Members of Amra BNP Paribar Masud Rana Liton, Dhaka College Chhatra Dal leader Abdullah Al Misbah, Uttaranchal Chhatra Forum Vice President Farzana Rimi and Chhatra Dal leader Ayesha Khan, among others, were present.

Mariyam’s family expressed relief and gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for standing by their daughter and extending support for her treatment.

They also sought prayers from all for her early recovery.
