DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS) - Dilara Hafiz, spouse of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, passed away in Singapore today at the age of 78. 

She breathed her last at Singapore General Hospital at 1:29 pm (Singapore local time) while undergoing treatment, said BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan. 

She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers.

The body of Dilara Hafiz will be brought to Bangladesh tomorrow evening. 

Her first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 11 am on March 30, followed by burial at Banani Military Graveyard after the second namaz-e-janaza at the Central Mosque in Cantonment after Zuhr prayers.
