RAJSHAHI, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - A five-member delegation from West Yunnan University, China visited Rajshahi University (RU) today at the invitation of the RU authorities. 

The delegation met for an exchange of views with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Md. Abdul Alim and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid in the conference room of Administration Building-1 at 10 am. 

During the exchange of views, they discussed various matters of mutual interest, including the development of Bengali language education and research in China and exchange of teachers, students and researchers between the two universities.
They also discussed Chinese language education and development of vocational skills at RU, and formulation of joint programs between the two universities in the field of education and research. 

The Chinese delegation included Professor Zhang Yanmei (Vice President, West Yunnan University), Associate Professor Huang Jiezhong (Director, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange), Associate Professor Li Jianbo (Deputy Director, Office of Academic Affairs), Professor Wu Longfeng (Dean, School of Biotechnology and Engineering) and Associate Professor Chen Yinghong (Deputy Party Branch Secretary, School of International Education). 

The two Pro-Vice Chancellors of RU presented souvenir gifts to the Chinese delegation. 

Among others present during the exchange of views were Professor Md. Hasnat Kabir, Director-in-charge of the ICT Center, Professor Muhammad Sajjadur Rahim, Director of the Office of International Affairs, Professor Md. Nurul Momen, Director of the Career Counselling and Development Center, Professor Motin Talukder, and Associate Professor Kanak Kumar Pathak (Department of Ceramics and Sculpture). 

Later, the delegation visited the Department of Bengali and the Faculty of Agriculture and exchanged views with the teachers.
 
In addition, they visited the Shaheed Mir Abdul Qaiyum International Dormitory, Zuberi (Guest) Bhaban and the under-construction Confucius Institute building. 

They also participated in several other programmes.
