BOGURA, March 27, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam today urged officials to exercise restraint and avoid wasting government resources through overenthusiastic activities.
“Avoiding overenthusiasm would save costs, ensure the work is done beautifully, and maintain the proper involvement of the relevant departments,” he said during a visit to the Shakpala C&B Park in Bogura town.
He stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has proven he is truly a son of Bogura by holding discussions in London about this park while keeping the land and people of Bogura in his heart.
He explained that from the beginning, the park was under the jurisdiction of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD). Although the District Administration had previously requested the RHD to develop the park, they were unable to do so at the time due to a funding crisis, he added.
Following discussions with the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, the responsibility for the park has been returned to the RHD, and the official documents were handed over today, he added.
The State Minister mentioned that while the municipality had performed some work at the park, there was a legal complication because they had not obtained a ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ from the RHD.
However, he acknowledged that the municipality's work was done in the public interest, though their involvement ends today.
The Bogura C&B Park is a 7.04-acre triangular site located 3.6 kilometers from the city’s central Satmatha point, situated between Phultala and Shakpala in front of the Nutrams Institute.
Originally constructed between 2004 and 2005 under the initiative of Tarique Rahman, the park features a pond, walking paths, benches, and umbrellas. Local residents alleged that the site had fallen into a state of disrepair due to prolonged neglect during the Awami League administration.
Following his inspection of the Shakpala C&B Park, the State Minister departed for Mahasthangarh to inspect and determine land for the establishment of a regional office for National University. His schedule also included a visit to the Aliar Hat sluice gate in his constituency of Shibganj, where he was slated to distribute grant checks to local mosques and temples.
