RAJSHAHI, March 27, 2026 (BSS)- Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, has emphasized the importance of maintaining strong unity, connection, and brotherhood among students.

He said there is no such thing as “former”—if the relationships between current and former students remain strong, they can become a source of inspiration for future generations.

He made these remarks on Friday morning while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the “MGHS Cricket Tournament” held at the Mohanpur Government High School playground.

Lawmaker Shafiqul Haque Milon stated that the government is working to transform the country’s youth and student community into a modern, skilled, and employment-oriented workforce.

He noted that in the current context, the nation must move forward by utilizing the intellect, wisdom, and creativity of young people.

In this regard, there is no alternative to sports, healthy recreation, and cultural activities.

Calling on the younger generation to stay away from drugs and negative cultural influences, he said that sports play a vital role in building a healthy, strong, and aware generation. Engagement in field-based activities ensures both physical and mental development of youth.

After his speech, he exchanged greetings with the participating players and formally inaugurated the tournament through a symbolic batting.

The tournament, organized by former students of Mohanpur Government High School, featured a total of eight teams.

The final match was held between the 2022 and 2024 batches of the school.

Special guests at the event included Mohanpur Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahabubur Rashid, Organizational Secretary Bacchu Rahman, former Organizational Secretary Kazim Uddin Sarkar, Kesharhat BNP General Secretary Mashiur Rahman, and former General Secretary Professor Kushbur Rahman.

The event was presided over by SM Limon. Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations, along with current and former students of the school, were also present.
