IT village will be set up at every upazila: Fakir Mahbub

TANGAIL, March 22, 2026 (BSS) - Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Fakhri Mahbub Anam today said that IT village would be set up at every upazila of the country. 

“The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for around one million people,” he said while addressing a reunion of former students of Ambariya High School under Madhupur upazila as the chief guest.

He added that high-tech park development with foreign support will further expand job opportunities for the youth. 

He said that over the past 17 years, the country witnessed the rule of a single party whose activities were not satisfactory. As a result, people were able to celebrate Eid with joy after a long time, he said, adding that the present government wants to ensure the well-being of the people and free them from sufferings. 

Terrorism, extortion and land grabbing will not be tolerated any more, the minister said, adding that political activists must remain attentive to public welfare. 

The minister further said that the promises made in the election manifesto are being implemented step by step under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 

Initiatives such as family cards, health cards and free internet services at various important locations have already been launched, he said, adding that within one month of forming the government, it has started implementation of the BNP’s 31-point programme. 

He also announced that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the distribution of farmer card from Tangail on April 14.

Among others, President of Madhupur upazila BNP Md. Zakir Hossain Sarkar, Senior Vice-President M. Ratan Haider, General Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin, town BNP General Secretary Khandakar Motalib Hossain, Convener of the reunion committee Nurunnabi Shahid and Head Teacher of Ambariya High School Abdul Mannan, were present at the function.
