BMU continues medical services during Eid holidays

DHAKA, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Despite the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Hospital has continued outpatient services, treating 685 patients today.

The services were provided at Outpatient-1 and Outpatient-2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with patients also receiving necessary tests and examinations, said a release of the BMU this evening.

It said these diagnostic services were conducted under the initiative of various departments of the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Paraclinical Sciences.

Besides, X-ray and CT scan services remained operational through the Department of Radiology and Imaging, and the hospital’s indoor and emergency departments continued functioning normally even during the holiday.

BMU Hospital Director Brigadier General Irteka Rahman said about 500 people, including doctors, nurses, officials and employees, provided services today and will extend services on March 22, to ensure smooth treatment and testing of patients.

At the same time, about 500 more personnel are on duty to keep the indoor and emergency department services running. The outpatient department will also be open on March 22,

BMU Hospital Director Brigadier General Irteka Rahman, Deputy Director (Hospital) Dr. Mohammad Abu Naser and Assistant Director (Hospital) Md Mahbubul Haque Sarkar and related officials inspected today's service activities.

Meanwhile, the Eid-ul-Fitr’s congregation (jamaat) will be held at the university's central Jame Masjid premises at 8 am on Eid day.

High-quality food arrangements have also been made for patients on Eid day. 

Besides, the post-Eid reunion will be held from 8:30 am to 10:30 am on March 24.

University offices will also return to normal activities from the same day.
