Middle East crisis: Expatriate welfare ministry’s control room to remain open during Eid

DHAKA, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - In light of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has decided to keep its control room operational even during the Eid holidays to ensure the safety and overall well-being of Bangladeshi expatriates.

According to an official order issued by the ministry, the control room, established on March 10, will operate continuously 24-hour until March 24. This special initiative has been taken to provide assistance to expatriates during the crisis.

As per the order, the control room has been set up at Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital’s Eskaton.

A total of 20 officers and 24 employees will work in three shifts on a rotational basis to ensure uninterrupted service.

A toll-free hotline has been launched for expatriates to contact the control room. Calls can be made from within the country at 16135 and from abroad at +8809610102030.

The overall supervision of the control room is being carried out by Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, Director General of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board.

Additionally, Deputy Secretary Md. Hedaietul Islam Mondol of the Employment-1 branch of the ministry is serving as the focal point officer.
