RANGPUR, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting, Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Water Resources
Syeda Rizwana Hasan has urged everyone to vote 'Yes' in the referendum for
changes.
"Positive changes must be made in running the country so that we never forget
those who sacrificed their lives selflessly in different struggles and
movements from 1971 to 1924 for positive changes," she said.
The adviser said this before leading a rally as the chief guest from the
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner's office premises to the July Monument Square in
the city on Monday afternoon to promote the referendum and encourage voters.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that everyone should vote 'Yes' to force the
government whoever comes to power to make changes to the constitution and the
laws of the country wherever they need to be changed, and make the judiciary
independent.
If 'Yes' vote wins, the administration will be free from party influence,
everyone will decide together to bring in a caretaker government to conduct
the elections, it will increase women's participation and constitutional
rights.
"In addition, 'Yes' vote will create opportunities for people to have their
say in the administration, that's why we all have to say 'Yes' in the
referendum," she said.
The adviser said that if people vote 'Yes', there will be a balance in
running the country, then nobody won't have to flee the country anymore.
Then there will be no more opportunity for fake votes, the people will elect
their own representatives.
Then everyone will know that after five years he will no longer be there and
the Prime Minister will know that if he becomes Prime Minister twice, then he
can no longer be Prime Minister.
"If 'Yes' vote wins, accountability will come within the party, democracy
will come and new leadership will be created. The party is bigger than the
individual and the country is bigger than the party," she said.
Rizwana Hasan said that the President should be empowered so that he can play
the necessary role as a guardian if the nation is ever divided. Then the
balance of power will be restored.
"Then no one will have to flee and everyone will be able to do politics from
within the country. Therefore, the referendum is not a matter of an
individual, not a matter of society, not a matter of any party and this is a
matter of the country," she said.
She said that people should actually have to vote yes if we truly want to
bring balance of power in the country, put the people at the center of power,
and hold the ruling class accountable.
She said, "Vote 'Yes' if you want the country to not continue as before and
to bring a balance in running the country."
Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam,
