CHATTOGRAM, Jan 16, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) undergraduate admission test for the 2025-2026 academic year is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday.
The multiple-choice test will take place from 10 am to 12:30 pm, followed by the drawing test from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm.
This year, a total of 13,942 candidates will be participating in the admission test for 931 seats, including 11 reserved seats, across 12 departments in the faculties of civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanical engineering.
The competition for admission to CUET is intense, with about 15 students vying for each available seat. The list of eligible candidates for the admission test has been published separately for 'A' and 'B' groups. The application process for CUET admission started on December 15 last year and concluded on December 31.
As per the admission notice, one seat is reserved for the Rakhine community and 10 seats for small ethnic groups (tribes) from the Chattogram Hill Tracts and other districts. A merit list will be prepared based on the total grade points obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination. This list will be based on the online application forms submitted within the specified timeframe for the admission test.
Group 'A' comprises the Engineering departments and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, while Group 'B' includes the Department of Architecture in addition to these departments.
The test for Groups 'A' and 'B' will consist of multiple-choice exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Group 'B' will also have an additional freehand drawing test for the Architecture department. Group 'A' will be evaluated out of 700 marks, with 500 marks for multiple-choice questions, and Group 'B' will be assessed out of 500 marks for multiple-choice questions and 200 marks for freehand drawing.
The admission test will be conducted at two sub-centers along with the CUET campus. A total of 8,500 candidates will take the test at the CUET center, while 5,442 candidates, including 1,365 at Government Haji Mohammad Mohsin College and 4,077 at Chattogram Cantonment Public College, will appear at the sub-centers. The 'K' group exam will only be held at the CUET center. The results of the admission test or merit list will be announced on January 31.
Preparation for the admission test is going well, according to Professor Kazi Delwar Hossain, the chairman of the admission test committee. A coordination meeting involving all relevant parties, including the administration and fire service, has been held.
Two groups Group 'K' and Group 'A' have been formed for the engineering departments, urban and regional planning department, and architecture department. Group 'A' and Group 'B' will have multiple-choice exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English subjects. Group 'B' will also have an additional freehand drawing test for the Architecture Department. The total marks for the exams will be 500 for Group 'A' and 500 for Group 'B', with an additional 200 marks for the freehand drawing test, making a total of 700 marks.
