KHULNA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - Chief Adviser's Special Assistant for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb today said the Padma Bridge has taken a step forward towards a cashless Bangladesh with the launch of the D-Toll service.
He made the remarks while visiting the D-Toll service on Padma Bridge and the activities of the electronic toll collection tag registration centre via mobile phone during his official visit to Khulna today.
Terming it a unique initiative of the interim government, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said the system will make journeys easier for the people, as the traditional case-based toll collection caused delays and slowed vehicle movement.
The D-Toll will allow immediate toll processing, keeping traffic flow normal and saving valuable time, he added.
The Special Assistant said the interim government plans to expand the D-Toll system to the country's largest bridges, including Jamuna and Meghna-Gomoti Bridges, through the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry. A unified tolling system, he noted, can be effective for highways and bridges across the country.
