JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) early today brought out a protest procession and held a doa mahfil condemning the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, pledging to continue resistance against fascism and foreign aggression.
More than a thousand students began the procession around 1:00am from the university's Bot Tola area. After marching through different streets of the campus, the procession ended at the Central Shaheed Minar, where a brief rally was held.
During the march, protesters chanted slogans condemning the killing and expressing anger over fascist forces and external interference in the country.
Addressing the rally, leaders of various student organisations said students would no longer accept violence and repression in the name of political rehabilitation.
They said the struggle was multidimensional and that injustice could not be justified in the name of civility, alleging the existence of proxy politics and undue administrative influence.
The leaders also alleged that youths had been killed over the last 15 years amid political repression backed by foreign influence, saying the blood of Sharif Osman Hadi and other martyrs would not allow what they termed "normal relations" with India. They demanded accountability for the continued violence.
The leaders further said the ideals and objectives of Sharif Osman Hadi would continue to inspire the movement as long as students remained united.
JUCSU literary secretary Jahidul Islam Bappy moderated the programme. JUCSU general secretary Mazharul Islam, joint general secretary (female) Ayesha Siddiqua Meghla and JU Chhatra Shakti president Zia Uddin Ayaan, among others, also addressed the gathering.
The programme concluded with a special doa seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Sharif Osman Hadi, followed by a collective oath by the participants.
Earlier, leaders and activists of JU Chhatra Dal brought out a separate protest procession from Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore Hall, which ended at Shaheed Salam-Barkat Hall around 11:30pm on Thursday.
