Education aims to nurture latent talent in every human: Bidhan Ranjan

KHULNA, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) – Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar today (Saturday) said that the true purpose of education is to nurture and develop the latent talents inherent in every individual education.

He said that by acquiring behavior through experience, every student grows into a responsible and capable member of the society.

“Both curricular and co-curricular activities together contribute to a child’s moral, intellectual, and logical development,” he said, adding that primary education plays a vital role in helping children achieve linguistic fluency and basic numeracy skills.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting titled “Role of Stakeholders in Enhancing the Quality of Primary Education” held at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium this afternoon.

Dr. Poddar said schools could improve their performance by learning from successful institutions. 

Referring to learning psychology, he noted that classrooms with mixed-ability students foster peer learning, helping children learn from each other. He also emphasized incorporating cultural activities to make education joyful and engaging.

The adviser urged teachers to demonstrate both organizational and academic leadership and to set themselves as role models for thousands of children.

Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, Director (Planning and Development) Mirajul Islam Ukil, and Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Toufiqueur Rahman spoke as special guests. 

Acting Divisional Commissioner of Khulna Md. Firoz Shah presided over the meeting, while Khulna Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam delivered the welcome address.

District Primary Education Officer of Khulna Sheikh Ohidul Alam, Bagerhat District Primary Education Officer Nasreen Akhter, and Satkhira Assistant Upazila Education Officer Md. Mozzaffor Uddin presented papers on various aspects of improving education quality.

Later, Adviser Dr. Poddar briefed journalists on the outcomes of the discussion.

Head teachers, assistant teachers, and officials from government primary schools in Khulna, Bagerhat, and Satkhira districts took part in the event organized by the Khulna Primary Education Department.
