Prof Dr Masud reappointed as KUET VC

KHULNA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - Prof Dr Muhammad Masud of the Mechanical Engineering Department has been reappointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon announced the decision at a briefing held at the Ministry of Education in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.

Prof Masud had stepped down from the post in February last year following a prolonged student movement at KUET that continued for more than two months.

Dr Masud has published more than 150 research papers in various national and international journals and conferences and has authored several books and book chapters.

He obtained his MSc in Engineering from Nagoya University in Japan in 2003 and completed his PhD there in 2006.

Dr Masud also worked as a senior research fellow at a NASA-funded aerospace centre and has taught at several universities in the United States and other countries.

Earlier, he served as head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at KUET, provost of a residential hall, chairman of CRTS, and president and general secretary of the teachers' association in different terms.

He also served as conference secretary of the organizing committee of the International Conference on Mechanical, Industrial and Energy Engineering (ICMIEE).

Dr Masud completed his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the then Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Khulna, in 1998. He joined as a lecturer as the then Khulna BIT in the same year and got promotion as assistant professor in 2003. He also promoted as associate professor in 2009 and professor in 2011 in the same institution which later turn as KUET.
