Bangladesh, Iraq discuss stronger cooperation on sidelines of UNGA

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh and Iraq have agreed to explore avenues for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including manpower, trade, and connectivity.

The understanding came when Foreign Affairs Adviser of Bangladesh Md. Touhid Hossain held a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Fuad Hussein on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Week in New York on Thursday.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on issues of common interest in the multilateral arena. 

The Foreign Adviser reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to working closely with Iraq to advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained engagement to translate the traditionally friendly relations into more robust economic and people-to-people cooperation.
