Chinese envoy urges youth to boost Dhaka-Beijing friendship

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has 
called on the youth of both countries to dedicate their passion and energy to 
strengthening Bangladesh-China friendship, saying their efforts will help 
build greater achievements for the future.

He made the remarks while addressing the "Bangladesh-China Women's Football 
Friendly Match 2025 Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic 
Relations," held on Saturday at the Bangladesh National Stadium in Dhaka, 
said a press release issued by the Chinese embassy here. 

Ambassador Yao described the football match as "a festival for the youth of 
both countries, a symphony of sports, and a stage for friendship." 

He expressed confidence that greater youth engagement would further cement 
people-to-people ties and elevate bilateral cooperation.

Senior officials and political leaders, including Dr Md Nazrul Islam, 
Secretary (East & West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BNP Standing 
Committee Members Mirza Abbas and Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Vice Chairman Altaf 
Hossain Chowdhury, and Abdul Awal Mintu, attended the event alongside more 
than 4,000 representatives from Chinese and Bangladeshi communities and 
football enthusiasts.

The friendly match featured a joint Chinese women's university football team, 
comprising players from Yunnan Minzu University and Jiangsu Normal 
University, competing against a Bangladeshi youth women's football team. 

Spectators enjoyed a spirited contest that highlighted the growing role of 
sports in fostering friendship between the two nations.

Bangladeshi speakers at the event praised the significance of youth exchanges 
and expressed optimism that China-Bangladesh ties in sports, culture, and 
education would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
