BNP holds virtual meeting with Finland's Ambassador for Human Rights

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a virtual meeting with Finland's Ambassador for Human Rights Katja Pehrman on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on key issues including democracy, human rights, rule of law in Bangladesh, and the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to a Facebook post by the BNP Media Cell.

BNP also urged the Finnish Ambassador to expedite the visa process for Bangladeshi citizens, particularly families and students, to facilitate easier applications from Bangladesh.

Highlighting concerns to the Finnish envoy, BNP said that Bangladeshis are facing delays in obtaining visas from the Finnish Embassy in Delhi due to India's visa procedures, which is affecting students' access to higher education in Finland.

Katja Pehrman assured that the BNP delegation's concerns would be taken seriously.

The delegation was led by BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan. Also present were BNP Finland chapter President Kamrul Hasan Joni and former International Affairs Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee, meeting coordinator Mohammad Khairuzman Lincoln.

Jaakko Koivusaari, a diplomat responsible for South Asia at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also attended the meeting.
